Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in cooler months, but never allow the plant to dry out completely.

Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Prune to control size and shape, and to encourage bushier growth and more blooms. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing stems anytime.

Light pruning after flowering can help maintain a tidy appearance and prevent unwanted seeding. Heavy pruning is best done in early spring.

Easily propagated from seeds sown directly outdoors after the last frost or started indoors 4-6 weeks prior. Scarify seeds by nicking them or soaking them in warm water overnight to improve germination.

Cuttings can also be taken in late spring or early summer.

Young plants may need repotting annually in spring as they outgrow their containers. Choose a pot that is one size larger with good drainage.

Mature plants can be left in their pots for 2-3 years, repotting only when root-bound or when the soil needs refreshing.
