Mountain sweet pepperbush prefers consistently moist soil. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to maintain soil moisture without waterlogging. Deep watering is more beneficial than frequent shallow sprinkles.

Reduce watering slightly in fall as growth slows.

Prune to shape the plant and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. The best time for major pruning is late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Lightly trim after flowering to maintain desired size and form. Avoid heavy pruning as it can reduce flowering.

Propagate from seed, sown in autumn or spring, requiring stratification. Softwood cuttings can be taken in early summer and rooted under mist. Hardwood cuttings are best taken in late autumn after leaf fall.

Be patient as it can be slow to establish.
