Mud Plantain thrives in consistently moist to waterlogged conditions. Ensure the substrate remains saturated, especially during the growing season. In aquatic setups, maintain a water depth of 5-15 cm.

Allow the water level to fluctuate slightly in bog gardens, but never let it dry out.

Pruning is generally not required for Heteranthera callifolia unless it becomes overgrown or straggly. Remove any decaying or yellowing leaves to maintain aesthetic appeal and prevent disease.

Trim stems back to encourage bushier growth if desired.

Propagation is easily achieved through stem cuttings. Simply take cuttings of healthy stems and plant them directly into moist substrate or float them in water. They will readily root and establish new plants.

Division of established clumps is also effective.

Repotting is rarely necessary for Heteranthera callifolia, especially when grown in its preferred aquatic or bog environment. If grown in a container and the plant appears root-bound or outgrows its space, repot into a slightly larger container with fresh, nutrient-rich substrate.
