Reduce watering during cooler months.

Remove spent flower spikes and any yellow or dead leaves at the base. Deadheading spent flowers encourages the plant to put energy into pup production.

Cut back foliage that has become unsightly to maintain a tidy appearance. Use clean, sharp tools.

Propagate by removing pups (offsets) that form around the base of the mother plant. Wait until the pups are about one-third the size of the parent before gently separating them.

Pot them in a well-draining bromeliad mix and keep moist.
