Water sparingly. Artemisia nitida prefers dry conditions and is highly susceptible to root rot if overwatered. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during winter.

In very hot weather, a light watering might be needed, but err on the side of underwatering.

Prune in early spring. To maintain a compact shape and prevent woody growth, cut back the plant by about one-third. Remove any dead or damaged stems at this time.

Pinching back young shoots can also encourage bushier growth. Avoid heavy pruning in late summer to allow hardening off.

Propagate by cuttings or division. Take cuttings in late spring or early summer and root them in well-draining soil or perlite. Divisions can be made in early spring when new growth appears.

Ensure cuttings and divisions have a few leaves and are kept lightly moist until established.

Repot only when necessary. Artemisia nitida prefers to be slightly root-bound and can be grown in relatively small pots.

Repot in early spring if the plant is clearly outgrowing its container or if the soil has become depleted. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend.
