Nasturtiums prefer consistently moist soil, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch.

Reduce watering once established, as they can tolerate some drought, but flowering may decrease. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Pruning nasturtiums helps maintain their shape, encourages bushier growth, and promotes more blooms. Pinch back young plants to encourage branching.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to prevent self-seeding and extend the flowering period. Trailing varieties can be trimmed to manage their spread.

Nasturtiums are easily propagated from seed. Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or indoors 2-4 weeks before the last frost.

Nicking the hard seed coat or soaking seeds overnight can improve germination rates. They can also be propagated from stem cuttings, though this is less common.

As annuals, nasturtiums typically do not require repotting. If started indoors in small pots, they should be transplanted to their final outdoor location or larger containers once the danger of frost has passed.
