Oca prefers consistent moisture but dislikes waterlogged conditions. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch. Reduce watering as the plant matures and during its dormant period.

Pruning is generally not required for Oca, as it is grown primarily for its tubers. However, you can remove any dead or damaged foliage during the growing season to maintain plant health.

If the plant becomes leggy, you can pinch back some stems to encourage bushier growth before tuber formation.

Oca is propagated by tubers. Simply plant the tubers directly into the soil in early spring, spaced about 15-20 cm apart. Ensure they are planted with the growing points (eyes) facing upwards.

Tubers can also be stored in a cool, dry place over winter and replanted the following season.

Repotting is usually only necessary if Oca is grown in containers and the tubers are tightly packed, which is uncommon as they are typically harvested.
