Prune for shape or to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. The best time to prune is in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Avoid heavy pruning, as Nikko fir generally maintains a good natural shape. Minimal intervention is usually best.

Propagation is typically done by grafting onto suitable rootstock or by collecting seeds from mature trees. Seed propagation can be slow and may not result in true-to-type plants.
