Northern Bedstraw prefers consistently moist soil, especially during its active growth period. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler months but do not allow the soil to dry out completely.

Prune Northern Bedstraw in late autumn or early spring to maintain shape and remove dead or damaged stems. Cutting back encourages denser growth.

You can also deadhead spent flowers to prevent self-seeding if desired, or to prolong blooming. Regular tidying keeps the plant looking its best.

Northern Bedstraw can be easily propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or autumn. Alternatively, softwood cuttings can be taken in late spring.

Seeds can be sown outdoors in autumn or stratified indoors and sown in spring. It can also self-seed readily.

Repotting is typically only necessary for container-grown plants or when dividing a mature specimen. If grown in a pot, repot every 2-3 years in spring, using a well-draining potting mix.

Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excess moisture retention.
