East African Mahogany prefers consistently moist soil, especially when young. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly during cooler, less active growth periods, but never allow the soil to completely dry out.

Prune East African Mahogany primarily to shape young trees and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Major pruning is usually not required for mature specimens.

If shaping is desired, perform it in late winter or early spring before the main growth flush begins.

Propagation is typically done from seeds, which require stratification. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining medium and kept moist. Cuttings can also be attempted, but success rates can be variable.

Grafting is another method employed by nurseries.

Repotting is generally only necessary for young container-grown plants when they become root-bound, typically every 2-3 years. Use a well-draining potting mix.

For larger specimens or established landscape trees, repotting is rarely needed and can be stressful.
