Obeche thrives in consistently moist soil, particularly when young. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. During dry spells, increase watering frequency.

Mature trees are somewhat drought-tolerant but perform best with regular moisture.

Prune Obeche primarily to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. This is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

For shaping or to control size, make clean cuts just outside the branch collar. Avoid heavy pruning, as Obeche can be sensitive.

Obeche is typically propagated by seeds, which require stratification before sowing. Seeds can be sown in a well-draining seed-starting mix.

Alternatively, vegetative propagation through cuttings is possible but can be more challenging. Successful cuttings often require rooting hormones and high humidity.

Repotting is generally not applicable to mature trees in their natural habitat. For Obeche grown in containers, repot every 2-3 years, or when the roots become root-bound.
