Keep soil consistently moist, especially during establishment and dry periods. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in late fall as the plant enters dormancy.

Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Minimal pruning is generally required.

You can also deadhead spent flowers if desired, though leaving them can provide winter interest with remaining persistent fruits.

Best propagated by division of clumps in early spring or fall. Seeds can be sown outdoors in fall for stratification, or stratified indoors. Germination can be slow and erratic.

Cuttings are also possible but less common.

Established plants generally do not require frequent repotting and prefer to be left undisturbed. If repotting is necessary due to overcrowding or poor soil, do so in early spring before new growth emerges.

Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage.
