Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the growing season. Reduce watering in fall and winter when the plant is dormant. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Prune back established plants in early spring to encourage bushier growth and more flowers. Remove spent blooms regularly to promote continuous flowering. Cut back dead or damaged stems anytime.

After flowering, allow seed pods to develop if desired, or cut back the plant.

Propagate from seeds sown directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Scarify or soak seeds overnight to improve germination.

Cuttings can be taken in late spring or early summer from non-flowering shoots.

Repot young plants annually in spring if they become root-bound. Mature plants generally do not require frequent repotting and prefer to be slightly pot-bound.
