Panicle hydrangeas prefer consistently moist soil, especially during dry periods. Water deeply at the base of the plant, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot. Reduce watering frequency in cooler weather and once established.

Prune panicle hydrangeas in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. They bloom on new wood, so prune to shape the plant and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Cut back stems to a desired height, typically leaving 2-3 buds per stem for controlled size and abundant blooms.

Propagate panicle hydrangeas from softwood cuttings taken in early summer. Select healthy stems, cut 4-6 inch sections below a leaf node, and remove lower leaves.
