Water regularly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. Reduce watering in winter, allowing the soil to dry out more between waterings.

Overwatering is a common mistake; err on the side of caution.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Heavy pruning is generally not recommended.

Avoid cutting back into old, bare wood, as this may not promote new growth. Early spring is the best time for shaping.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining, sandy soil mix. Keep moist and in a warm, bright location with no direct sun.

Rooting can take several weeks to months. Grafting is also an option.

Repot only when necessary, typically every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a free-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend, with added perlite.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excessive moisture retention.
