Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter, providing only enough to prevent the soil from becoming bone dry.

Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Prune after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove spent flower stalks and any dead or damaged stems. Light pruning can be done in early spring to shape the plant.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn. Alternatively, sow seeds in autumn or early spring in well-drained compost. Seed germination can be erratic.

Repot young plants annually in spring. Mature plants can be repotted every 2-3 years or when root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix, with added grit.
