Red pigweed is highly drought-tolerant once established. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Monitor soil moisture, especially during prolonged dry spells, but err on the side of underwatering for best results.

Pruning is typically not necessary for red pigweed, as it maintains a compact, naturally attractive form. If the plant becomes unruly or diseased, light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring.

Remove any dead or damaged stems to improve air circulation and plant health.

Red pigweed is easily propagated by seed. Sow seeds directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or start them indoors a few weeks prior. Seeds germinate readily in well-drained soil.

It can also be propagated by cuttings taken in spring or early summer.

Red pigweed is not typically grown in containers and does not require repotting. If grown in a pot, repot only when the plant becomes severely root-bound, ideally in early spring.
