Prune Triadica sebifera to shape the tree and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. The best time for structural pruning is late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

For controlling size or shape, light pruning can be done after flowering. Remove suckers from the base promptly.

Triadica sebifera can be propagated by seeds, which require stratification. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer. Grafting is another method. Sow seeds in fall or stratify and sow in spring.
