Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment and dry spells. Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in winter.

Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done after flowering to shape the tree and encourage bushier growth.

Best propagated by grafting onto suitable rootstock in late winter. Seed propagation is possible but may not produce true-to-type offspring.

Young trees in pots should be repotted every 2-3 years in early spring. Mature trees in containers may only need repotting every 4-5 years, or root pruning if necessary.
