Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can be detrimental to its root system.

Pruning is best done in late winter or early spring while the tree is dormant, or immediately after flowering to avoid removing the current season's catkins. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Coppicing or pollarding can be used to manage size and encourage new growth, especially for ornamental catkin display.

Goat Willow is easily propagated from hardwood cuttings taken in late autumn or winter. Cuttings about 20-30 cm long can be inserted directly into moist soil or rooting medium.

It can also be grown from seed, though cuttings are generally more reliable and faster for establishing new plants.

As a tree or large shrub, Goat Willow is not typically grown in pots long-term.

If grown in a container when young, repotting should occur every 1-2 years into a larger pot with fresh potting mix until it's ready for permanent planting in the ground.
