Button Eryngo prefers consistently moist soil during its establishment phase. Once mature, it becomes quite drought-tolerant due to its deep taproot. Water deeply only when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry.

Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot, especially in poorly draining soils.

Pruning is primarily done after flowering to remove spent flower stalks, which can be quite attractive even when dried. Cut back the dead foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.

This tidies the plant and prevents self-seeding if not desired.

Button Eryngo can be propagated by seed sown in autumn or early spring, or by division of established clumps in spring. Seeds may require stratification.

Division should be done carefully, respecting the plant's strong taproot. It can also be propagated from root cuttings.

Repotting is rarely necessary for Eryngium yuccifolium due to its deep taproot, which makes it difficult to transplant. If container-grown, repot only when the plant is severely root-bound, preferably in spring.
