Cut back dead foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. This involves trimming the entire plant down to a few inches above the ground.

Removing spent flower plumes in fall can prevent self-seeding if desired, but leaving them adds winter interest.

Ravenna grass can be propagated by division of established clumps in early spring. Carefully separate sections of the root ball, ensuring each division has roots and shoots.

Alternatively, it can be grown from seed, sown in spring, though division is more common for guaranteed results.

Repotting is generally not applicable for mature, in-ground Ravenna grass. For container-grown specimens, repotting may be necessary every 2-3 years in early spring when the plant becomes root-bound.

Choose a larger container with well-draining potting mix.
