Water sparingly during the growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Reduce watering significantly in autumn and winter, providing only enough to prevent severe shriveling. Overwatering is a common cause of root rot.

Pruning is generally not required for Rebutia padcayensis. If necessary for propagation or to remove dead or damaged parts, use a clean, sharp knife. Allow cuts to callus over before replanting to prevent rot.

Propagate by offsets (pups) or stem cuttings. Allow offsets or cuttings to dry and form a callus for several days before planting in well-draining cactus mix.

Seeds can also be sown in a well-draining medium at warm temperatures.

Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant outgrows its container. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. Choose a pot slightly larger than the previous one, ensuring good drainage holes.

Repot in spring before active growth begins.
