Toona ciliata prefers consistently moist soil, especially when young. Water deeply during dry spells, but avoid waterlogged conditions which can lead to root rot.

Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings for mature trees. Adjust frequency based on rainfall and temperature.

Prune young trees to establish a strong central leader and well-spaced scaffold branches. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches at any time.

For timber production, selective pruning can improve form and reduce defects. Avoid heavy pruning on mature trees unless necessary.

Toona ciliata can be propagated from seeds, which require stratification, or through cuttings. Semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer root reasonably well under mist with bottom heat.

Layering is also a successful method for propagation.

Repotting is generally not applicable to mature Toona ciliata trees as they are large forest trees. Young container-grown specimens may need repotting every 1-2 years into a larger container to accommodate root growth and prevent being pot-bound.
