Blood Sage prefers consistently moist soil, especially during its active growing season. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler months or when the plant is not actively growing.

Prune Blood Sage to encourage bushier growth and more blooms. Pinch back the tips of new shoots regularly. Deadhead spent flowers frequently to prevent seed formation and prolong the blooming period.

Light pruning can be done anytime, while heavier pruning is best in early spring.

Blood Sage is easily propagated from seeds sown in spring or from stem cuttings taken in late spring or early summer.

Seeds can be started indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or directly sown outdoors after frost danger has passed. Cuttings root readily in moist soil or water.
