Rubus foliosus prefers consistently moist soil. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. During dry periods, increase watering frequency.

In containers, check soil moisture more often.

Prune Rubus foliosus after fruiting to remove old, unproductive canes. Cut them back to the ground. In late winter or early spring, thin out any crowded canes to improve air circulation and light penetration.

Remove any dead, damaged, or diseased wood.

Rubus foliosus can be propagated by root cuttings or tip layering. In autumn, bend a long, flexible shoot tip to the ground and cover it with soil.

Roots will form, and the layered tip can be severed and replanted the following spring. Root cuttings are also effective.

Repot container-grown Rubus foliosus every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. The best time to repot is in early spring before new growth begins. Use a larger pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix.

Trim back any overgrown roots.
