Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly during winter dormancy.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in containers.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing canes.

For fruiting varieties, establish a primocane-fruiting system by selecting strong new canes and cutting back older, floricane wood. Thin out crowded canes to improve air circulation.

Easily propagated by softwood cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Tip layering, where the end of a long cane is bent to the ground and covered with soil, is also effective.

Division of established root clumps in early spring is another method.

Repot container-grown Rubus urticifolius every 2-3 years in early spring. Choose a pot one size larger with fresh, well-draining potting mix. Ensure the crown of the plant is at soil level.

Water thoroughly after repotting.
