Water consistently to keep the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in cooler months, but do not let the soil become completely dry.

Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Prune to maintain desired shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. This encourages bushier growth.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Insert cuttings into a well-draining potting mix and keep them consistently moist and warm. Rooting may take several weeks to months.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring but germination can be slow.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring as they outgrow their containers. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, every 3-4 years.

Use a well-draining potting mix and choose a pot only slightly larger than the previous one.
