Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as Salvia valentina prefers slightly drier conditions. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

Reduce watering in winter to mimic its dormant period.

Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Cut back stems by about one-third to one-half. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time. Light pruning in early spring can also stimulate new growth.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Dip cuttings in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining potting mix. Keep moist and in a warm, humid environment until roots form.

Alternatively, sow seeds in spring.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, preferably with added grit or perlite. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid waterlogging.
