Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in containers.

Pruning is mainly for shaping, removing dead or diseased branches, and improving air circulation. Light pruning can be done anytime to maintain desired size or form.

For significant shaping, prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Avoid heavy pruning.

Santol can be propagated from seeds, which should be sown fresh as viability decreases quickly. Grafting is also a common method for fruit trees like Santol, ensuring desirable traits.

Air layering can be successful, but is more challenging. Cuttings are less common.

Young Santol plants may need repotting every 1-2 years, while mature trees are generally root-bound and do not require frequent repotting. Repot in spring when the plant is entering its active growth phase.

Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
