Reduce watering significantly in winter to prevent waterlogged conditions.

Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushier growth. Trim back leggy stems to about one-third of their length. Avoid cutting into old wood, as it may not regrow.

Regular light trimming throughout the growing season can also be beneficial.

Santolina benthamiana is best propagated from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn. Dip cuttings in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining compost mix.

Keep moist and in a bright, indirect light location until established.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring. Mature plants can be left in their pots for longer as they prefer to be slightly pot-bound.
