Keep substrate consistently moist, never waterlogged. Use only distilled, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water to prevent mineral buildup.

Allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings, especially in cooler months, but avoid complete desiccation.

Remove dead or dying pitchers and leaves at the base of the plant to improve air circulation and prevent fungal diseases. This can be done anytime, but late fall or early spring is ideal.

Trim away any signs of rot or decay promptly.

Sarracenia alabamensis can be propagated by division of rhizomes in early spring. Carefully separate healthy rhizomes with at least one growth bud.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown outdoors in fall or stratified and sown in spring. Be patient, as germination can be slow.

Repot every 2-3 years in early spring before new growth begins. Use a nutrient-poor, acidic substrate such as a 1:1 mix of peat moss and perlite or sand.

Ensure the pot is deep to accommodate the long root system and has drainage holes.
