Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water Saurauia montana thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot. Reduce watering frequency during cooler months when the plant's growth slows down.
Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions.
Prune Saurauia montana to maintain its shape and size, or to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. The best time for pruning is in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
Light pruning can be done throughout the year as needed.
Propagate Saurauia montana from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer. Root cuttings in a well-draining potting mix, keeping the medium moist and providing bottom heat if possible.
Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring, but germination may be slow.
Repot Saurauia montana every 2-3 years, or when it becomes root-bound. Spring is the ideal time for repotting. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
Water thoroughly after repotting.
