Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially during warmer months. Reduce watering in cooler periods.
Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged branches, and encourage bushier growth. Light pruning can be done at any time, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
Use clean, sharp pruning tools.
Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining potting mix.
Keep the cuttings moist and warm, and provide bright, indirect light. Rooting can take several weeks.
Repot young plants annually, and mature plants every 2-3 years, or when root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
Repotting is best done in spring before the active growing season begins.
