Shining Pondweed thrives in consistently waterlogged conditions. Ensure its roots are submerged in at least 15-30 cm of still or slow-moving freshwater.

Avoid letting the water level drop significantly, as this can stress the plant and lead to deterioration. Regular top-ups may be necessary.

Pruning is minimal and mainly involves removing dead or yellowing leaves to maintain plant health and appearance. If the plant becomes too dense or starts to outgrow its space, trim back overgrown stems.

This can be done at any time during the growing season.

Shining Pondweed readily propagates through fragmentation. Simply cut healthy stems into sections, each with a few leaves and a node.

These fragments can be planted directly into the substrate or allowed to float, where they will root and grow into new plants.

Repotting is rarely necessary for Shining Pondweed as it is an aquatic plant that lives submerged. If you need to move it, gently detach it from its substrate and replant it in the desired location.

This is best done in spring when growth is active.
