Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Agave demeesteriana is drought-tolerant and prone to root rot if overwatered. Water more sparingly in winter and provide excellent drainage.

Remove dead or damaged leaves at the base of the plant using a sharp, clean knife or pruning shears. This improves appearance and prevents disease. Agave demeesteriana generally does not require significant pruning.

Agave demeesteriana is typically propagated by offsets (pups) that grow from the base of the mother plant. Carefully remove offsets with a sharp knife, allow them to callus for a few days, and then plant in well-draining soil.

Repot young plants every 2-3 years or when they become root-bound. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix and a pot with drainage holes.
