Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry. Allow soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter.

Overwatering is the most common cause of rot, so err on the side of underwatering, especially for mature plants.

Prune only to remove dead, damaged, or diseased leaves. Use a clean, sharp knife or shears. If pups (offsets) become overcrowded, they can be separated during repotting.

Minimal pruning is generally required for this species.

Propagate by removing offsets (pups) that grow from the base of the parent plant. Allow the cut end to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil. Roots will typically form within a few weeks.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.

Repot in spring or early summer.
