Spreading SandwortArenaria lanuginosa

Water Arenaria lanuginosa regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in winter. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Overwatering is a common issue for this plant.

Prune after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead or faded flower stems. Light trimming can be done to control spread and prevent it from becoming leggy.

Minimal pruning is generally required.

Propagate by division of established clumps in spring or autumn. Cuttings can also be taken from young shoots in late spring or early summer. Root cuttings in a well-draining medium.

Seeds can be sown in spring, but germination may be erratic.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, as they prefer to be slightly pot-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Ensure the new pot provides adequate drainage holes.
