Water regularly during the growing season, typically spring and early summer, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering significantly once the foliage begins to yellow and die back, allowing the bulbs to dry out for dormancy.

Deadhead spent flowers to prevent seed formation and encourage further blooming. Once the foliage yellows and withers naturally after flowering, it can be tidied up or removed to maintain a neat appearance, but allow it to die back fully to nourish the bulb.

Divide overcrowded clumps of bulbs in late summer or early autumn when they are dormant. Replant the divisions immediately into well-drained soil. Seeds can also be sown in autumn, but flowering may take several years.

Repot in late summer or early autumn, ideally every 2-3 years, when the bulbs are dormant. Use a well-draining potting mix, and plant bulbs about 5-7 cm deep.

Ensure containers have adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
