Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the plant dry out completely, especially during warmer periods or when in bloom.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler, dormant months.

Prune after flowering to encourage a tidier appearance and potentially a second bloom. Remove spent flower stalks and any dead or damaged stems.

Light pruning can also be done in early spring to shape the plant and remove winter dieback.

Propagate from seed sown in spring, either indoors or directly in the garden. It can also be propagated by division of established clumps in spring or autumn.

Cuttings can be taken from young shoots in late spring or early summer.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring, moving them to a slightly larger container. Established plants may only need repotting every 3-4 years, or when root-bound.

Use a good quality, well-draining potting mix.
