Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially during hot, dry periods.

Reduce watering in winter when the plant is less actively growing to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms and maintain a tidy appearance. In late autumn or early spring, cut back the plant by about one-third to half its size to promote vigorous new growth.

Remove any dead or damaged stems as they appear.

Easily propagated from seeds sown in autumn or early spring. Can also be propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or late autumn.

Cuttings taken in late spring or early summer will also root successfully if kept moist and in a protected environment.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in early spring. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, typically every 3-4 years, or when they become root-bound.
