Symphytum creticum prefers consistently moist soil but dislikes waterlogging. Water deeply when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry, particularly during active growth. Reduce watering in dormancy.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in containers.

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage further blooming and prevent self-seeding if desired.

Cut back the plant hard to the ground after flowering or in late autumn to tidy its appearance and promote vigorous new growth the following spring. Remove any damaged or diseased foliage promptly.

Symphytum creticum is easily propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or autumn. It can also be grown from seed sown in autumn or early spring, though seedlings may not come true to type.

Root cuttings can also be taken in late spring.

Established plants generally prefer to be left undisturbed. Repot container-grown plants every 2-3 years in spring when they become root-bound.

Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot only slightly larger than the previous one to avoid excess moisture retention.
