Nile tamarisk is highly drought-tolerant once established. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering significantly in winter. Container plants may require more frequent watering than those in the ground.

Prune Nile tamarisk in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

To encourage flowering and maintain shape, prune back about one-third of the previous year's growth. Heavy pruning can be done to rejuvenate older plants.

Propagation is typically done through semi-hardwood cuttings taken in mid-summer. Select healthy shoots, dip the cut end in rooting hormone, and plant in a well-draining medium.

Keep moist and in a shaded, protected location. Seed propagation is also possible but may not result in true-to-type plants.

Repotting is rarely necessary for Tamarix nilotica, as they tolerate root restriction well and prefer to be slightly pot-bound.

If a container plant becomes severely root-bound and shows signs of stress, repot in spring to a slightly larger container with well-draining soil. Water thoroughly after repotting.
