Once established, it is highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal supplemental watering, especially in regions with adequate rainfall. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Pruning is generally not required for mature trees, as they develop a natural shape. However, young trees can be pruned to establish a strong structure. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Pruning can also be used to control size or shape, but heavy pruning can stress the tree.

Propagation is typically done from seeds. Sow seeds in a well-draining seed-raising mix in autumn or spring. Germination can be erratic and may require stratification (a period of cold treatment).

Cuttings are more difficult to root but can be attempted from semi-hardwood material.

Young plants may require repotting every 1-2 years into larger containers as their root system develops. Use a well-draining potting mix. Avoid disturbing the roots excessively.

Mature trees are generally not repotted and are best planted directly into the ground.
