Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter, providing just enough to prevent the soil from becoming bone dry.
Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure good drainage.
Prune Tephrosia capensis in early spring to shape the plant and remove any dead or overgrown branches. Light pruning can encourage bushier growth.
Remove spent flower stalks to promote further blooming and maintain a tidy appearance throughout the growing season.
Propagate by seeds sown in spring or by semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer. Seeds may require scarification or soaking before sowing.
Cuttings should be rooted in a well-draining medium in a warm, humid environment.
Repot Tephrosia capensis every 2-3 years in spring, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
Ensure the new pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
