Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply at the base of the plant, especially during dry spells and when fruits are developing. Avoid overhead watering, which can promote fungal diseases.

Aim for 2-3 cm of water per week.

Prune to improve air circulation and encourage fruit production. Remove suckers (shoots that grow between the main stem and a branch) and lower leaves that touch the soil.

For indeterminate varieties, consider pruning to one or two main stems.

Tomatoes are typically propagated by seed. Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Maintain a consistent temperature of 21-27°C for germination.

Transplant seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.

Seedlings are usually transplanted from seed trays into larger pots when they have their first true leaves. Ensure the new pot is adequately sized for root growth. Use a well-draining potting mix.

For larger container-grown plants, repotting may be necessary as they grow, usually into larger containers.
