Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this species is sensitive to root rot. Reduce watering frequency during cooler, dormant periods to prevent over-saturation.

Ensure good drainage in the pot and allow excess water to escape.

Prune to shape and maintain size, or to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove any suckers from the base.

Easily propagated from seed, which should be sown in spring. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer or hardwood in winter.

Ensure cuttings have at least a few nodes and are planted in well-draining medium.

Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix. Repotting is best done in spring before the onset of active growth. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
