Turkish ValerianValeriana phu

Water Turkish valerian regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially during warmer months.

Reduce watering in winter to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage to avoid standing water.

Prune Turkish valerian after flowering to encourage a bushier habit and potentially a second bloom. Remove spent flower stalks to prevent self-seeding if desired.

Cut back dead or damaged stems in late autumn or early spring before new growth begins.

Propagate Turkish valerian by division in early spring or autumn. Carefully lift the plant and divide the root ball into sections, ensuring each section has healthy roots and shoots.

Replant divisions immediately into well-prepared soil. Seed propagation is also possible but may be slower.

Repot Turkish valerian every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound, typically in early spring before new growth starts. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one, with ample drainage holes.

Use a well-draining potting mix.
