Vilmorin's Rowan prefers consistently moist soil, especially when young. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering frequency in winter but do not allow the soil to completely dry out.

Prune in late winter or early spring while the tree is dormant. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done to shape the tree and maintain its size.

Avoid heavy pruning, which can reduce flowering and fruiting for the season.

Propagation is typically done by grafting onto a suitable rootstock, such as Sorbus aucuparia, in late winter. Softwood cuttings can also be taken in early summer and rooted under humid conditions with bottom heat.

Seed propagation is possible but can be slow and variable.

Young plants in containers may need repotting every 2-3 years in early spring before new growth begins. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Established trees are best left undisturbed.
