Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in winter to prevent waterlogging. Ensure good drainage to avoid root rot.
Overwatering is a common issue, so err on the side of underwatering if unsure.
Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time.
Harder pruning can be done in early spring before new growth begins to rejuvenate older plants and control size.
Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Insert cuttings into a well-draining potting mix and keep them in a warm, humid environment. Rooting typically occurs within a few weeks.
Alternatively, sow seeds in spring.
Repot annually or biennially in spring as needed, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining, general-purpose potting compost.
Choose a pot only slightly larger than the previous one to avoid excessive moisture retention.
